Easdale
Easdale is a convenient place to anchor while waiting for the tide to turn at Cuan or Fladda. If approaching from the east, keep as close to the old pier as possible. The western entrance can be difficult to find bacause of broken beacons, high water or rough seas - but in heavy weather you wouldn't want to be anywhere near here anyway.
The following shows the northern entrance to Easdale. The perches are not always present, but when you see the photos below you'll understand why!
The photographs below were taken in exceptional conditions - the shipping forecast was “Malin/Hebrides, South Westerly Severe Gale force 9 increasing Storm force 10, occasionally Violent Storm force 11”.
The harbour entrance is between the rocks in the foreground, and the little rock right of centre .. not the rocks with the breaking wave
These waves were big. To give you an idea of scale, the rocks in the foreground are a metre in diameter, they aren’t pebbles.
